Colonial Chemical Rail Spur
Construction is completed on a rail spur to serve the Colonial operation in New Hope. This includes several years of work and public/private cooperation between several entities, including the Tennessee Department of Transportation, Southeast Tennessee Development District, Marion County, Marion Natural Gas, Sequatchie Valley Electric Cooperative, and CSX Corporation at a cost of over $3.4 million. The 1/2-half mile rail spur expands Colonial's supply chain flexibility, reduces raw materials costs, and provides a key element for the company's growth at its principal U.S. manufacturing plant. This type of rail access is consistent with the infrastructure requirements of a manufacturing operation of this scale, TDOT officials said, and connects the Colonial facility directly to CSX lines.
